Update on 2020 Season

Hello EYFL Families,

I hope this message finds you all healthy and doing well.

We’re all anxious, not just in anticipation and excitement, but also perhaps a little anxiety-filled, about the upcoming season. During this time, all of our kids need something to look forward to and many are missing being with their friends and teammates.

Please know that EYFL has been diligently examining the effects of this pandemic on EYFL operations for the upcoming season.  We are doing everything possible to identify best practices to protect our kids, coaches, parents, and volunteers.  EYFL wants to be ready whenever we are allowed to get back on the field together, even though things may be slightly different.

We are abiding by USA Football’s protocols and guidance set forth by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), and Elkhart Community Schools. As of today, EYFL is proceeding as if the season will begin on schedule.

Here is what we know as of today’s writing.

  1. This situation is dynamic and constantly evolving and therefore subject to change.  We will update and share information as the situation changes.
  2. The health and safety of our players has always been our top priority; that has not changed. Our ability to play this fall begins with following the guidelines today and every day as we move forward.
  3. NIYFL league owns an Ozone Machine and every piece of the league’s equipment will have been sanitized prior to it being issued for use.
  4. We are currently planning for what evaluations, practices, and gamedays will look like.
    1. Incorporating cleaning and sanitiion measures for all equipment used.
    2. Adjusting drills for social distancing guidelines.
    3. Changing level of contact for all drills to “Air” or “Bags” until otherwise notified.
    4. The health and safety of our football community is vital, and we will not compromise this for any reason. We are considering health assessment for each player, coach, and volunteers.
  5. The IHSAA has decreed that all school facilities are closed to any type of activity through the end of this month. No activities in football equipment until August 3.
  6. To minimize exposure risk for EYFL staff and volunteers, there will be no “IN-PERSON” registration events for the 2020 season.  PLEASE COMPLETE ALL REGISTRATIONS ONLINE.

EYFL is offering three options for registration fee refunds if the 2020 season was to be cancelled prior to August 1.

Option 1 – Full and complete refund of 2020 registration fee back to your original form of payment.

Option 2 – Donate a portion or all of the 2020 registration fee to EYFL to help ensure we can continue providing a fun, safe and rewarding experience for all players.

Option 3 – Roll over the 2020 registration fee into next year and apply it to your 2021 season registration.

There will be no refunds granted after football equipment has been issued.

I know I speak for all of our coaches in saying we miss our players and can’t wait to see them all again soon.  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you.

Thomas Brown
